Marriage Enrichment Dinner* - Friday, September 17, 2010, 700 pm.
Speakers: Stephen and Sharon Graham.
A six course dinner (Entrée is choice of chicken breast or baked cod) will be served. Price: $35 per couple. Registration form
Steve and Sharon are recent converts to the Catholic Church. They grew up as Pentecostals and then joined the Evangelical Covenant Church (a small denomination that comes from the Swedish Lutheran Church) where they served in a variety of roles before being received into the Catholic Church in 2008. Stephen earned a PhD in the History of Christianity from the University of Chicago, was ordained by the Evangelical Covenant Church, and served as a faculty member and dean at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago for almost twenty years. Sharon, a stay-at-home mom with the couple’s two children, Thomas & Elisabeth, taught piano lessons, and was active in the church, teaching Sunday school, playing piano, playing in the hand bell choir, and serving on the youth committee.
At the heart of Steve’s journey into the Catholic Church was a desire to be connected more fully to the historic church. When they were Protestants, Sharon used to get frustrated with Steve because he was “so Catholic,” but then she led the way into the Church. In September, they will have been married 33 years.
